We have a few options for scaling plans. The first option is to scale the plans using the scale drop down at the top of your screen. You can choose the drop down scale as needed. You should also see the option in the drop down for Using Known Dimension. To scale plans using known dimensions, , we will need to locate an existing dimension on our plans, once located, now select the Using Know Dimension Feature and enter the Dimension noted on the plans and select start. Select one side of the dimension line and then go to the other side and select the end of the dimension line. But, in zzTakeoff you can also use a built in AI feature that will scale all of the plan sheets that have a scale noted. To do this, just locate the scale callout on any of the plan sheets, and drag your mouse over it while holding the left side of your mouse down, then release and select Scale. You should now see all the plan sheets listed out. You can Batch scale all of them or, you can now select the sheets that you wish to scale, once ready select batch scale. All the sheets that were scaled will have a plus icon to the right of the page name in the pages tab. Be sure to check them all for accuracy. In zee zee takeoff, you also have the option to use AI to batch rename your plan sheets as well as batch renumbering the sheet numbers. And rounding out some of our amazing AI features in zzTakeoff, we have the ability to batch import plan sheet legends and schedules. With this amazing time saving feature we can simply drag our mouse over an existing legend on the plans and select extract schedule. Once selected, a window will open that will show the extracted items. If you need to change the type of the measurement tool, just type A, L, S, or C on the type window, select your choice and this will change the type of that measurement. Once you are finished select create, and your New Takeoff properties will appear in the Takeoffs Tab in a folder ready to use. By using this feature you save so much of your valuable time by not having to type in all of those legend items, and we make it so easy with ZZ

Once your plan sheets are scaled you are now ready to start creating takeoffs. In the top bar of the takeoff page you will notice the Area tool, the Linear tool, the Segment Tool as well as the Count tool. The icons on the right of the count tool are collaboration tools, and we will discuss those further in another video. For now, let’s look at the Area tool, when you select the area tool a New Area window will open. Notice that the Name window is where you can enter the name of the items that you are measuring, the measurement type window has a drop down that will allow you to measure Flat Area, Area with Wall Height, Area with Depth, Sloped Areas and Sloped area from an Elevation. You will also see a Measurement section where you can select what measurements you would like to use as your primary measurement; this is measurement 1. If you choose Area for Measurement 1, this will show up in your reports as measurement 1 and as your quantity. If you select the plus button a measurement 2 will appear and you can select any of the measurement types in the drop down. You can do the same for measurement 3. These can be changed at any time, and your changes will not affect your takeoffs, but only the type of quantity. We will discuss this further in a future video. Using the Arc Tool

Did you know that zzTakeoff has an arc tool that will help you measure curved and circular areas? This easy to use tool can be implemented when you are performing a linear or an area takeoff. To do this start your measurement and be sure to make a point, or click on the beginning of the arc, then in the middle of the arc before you select your next point, select A on your keyboard and that will change the measurement to an arc, and you will see the click arc midpoint call out next to your curser. Now select the midpoint of the arc by adding the arc point then go to the end of the arc with another standard point count.
