Overlays- Comparative, Colorized or Opaque
Applying Page Overlays
Page overlays in zzTakeoff allow you to place one plan or page on top of another. This is especially useful for comparing revisions, aligning details across multiple drawings, or referencing previous plans without switching between pages.
When to Use Page Overlays
- To compare an updated plan with the original version.
- To verify alignment of multiple plan sheets.
- To trace or reference specific elements from another page.
- To visually analyze changes between revisions.
Steps to Apply a Page Overlay
- Select the Base Page - Choose the page that will act as your “base” or background for the overlay.
- Click on the Overlay icon in the toolbar
- A dialog will appear with Overlay Types

- Select the page you want from the dropdown.
- Pick the overlay color (colorized option)
- Adjust Overlay Opacity: Slide to adjust transparency so both layers are visible.
- Click the Create Overlay
- You will then be prompted to align the overlay with two clicks
This workflow helps you quickly visualize differences, trace elements, and verify plans without leaving the zzTakeoff environment.
